Bella Coat 2 Day Workshop

Create a beautiful, fully custom coat in this immersive two?day workshop designed for adventurous beginners through experienced sewists. Using the Bella Quilt Coat pattern by ByAnnie and Quilting Elissa, you’ll learn how to take accurate body measurements, choose the right size, build a muslin test coat to perfect your fit and build confidence, and design a coat that reflects your personal style.
Whether you want to feature your own Foundation Paper Pieced blocks, highlight a favorite accent fabric, or showcase quilted panels you’ve already created, this class gives you the structure and support to bring your vision to life. (See FPP class on May 22 to create your FPP prior to this class).

| Skill Details: | What You’ll Learn Measuring for the perfect fit — taking accurate measurements and choosing the right size from the Bella pattern’s ten?size range. Muslin construction — assembling a test version to evaluate ease, and length before cutting into your quilted fabric. Coat design planning — mapping out where to place FPP blocks, appliqué, blockwork, or accent fabrics using the pattern’s design diagrams. Panel preparation — strategies for quilting your fabric and cutting pattern pieces. Sewing techniques for garment construction — adding a separating zipper with guard, and creating a clean, fully lined interior. Finishing details — topstitching, trimming, and pressing for a polished, professional look. Class Flow Day 1: Take measurements and select your size Cut and sew your muslin test coat Make size adjustments Begin planning your coat layout and design elements Prepare quilt sandwiches Day 2: Cut quilted or accent fabrics Construct coat body and sleeves Insert pockets, zipper, and collar Final assembly and finishing techniques Students will leave with a uniquely designed quilt coat—either completed or ready for final stitching at home.
