The Weekend Rag Quilt

This rag quilt is so quick and easy that you can make it in a weekend even though our class is 3 Monday nights! Great for beginners, this quilt is made with the seams exposed which are then ""ragged"" up to create this fabulous, cozy effect. Learn to use the Quilt-As-You-Go method and cut with the new Creative Grids Batting Buddy template set. This cool quilt has no binding, so once your patchwork pieces are assembled, you're done!

| Requirements: | Weekend Rag Quilt 1. Weekend Rag Quilt pattern by Studio M – we are making the Throw Size in class 2. ¾ yard of 5 flannels – DO NOT PREWASH OR CUT ANYTHING BEFORE CLASS! 3. 3 yards of backing (must have 1st class as it’s used in block construction) 4. Twin size 100% cotton batting 5. Marking tool that will show on all fabrics. I would recommend the Sewline Ceramic pencil in white or green (depending on fabric colors). Straight pins sturdy enough to pin thru 2 layers of flannel and batting without bending. I recommend the Clover Flower head pins. Wonder Clips will work but are just bulkier to work with. 6. Thread that blends with backing and quilt front colors. The thread will show so try not to do to much of a contrast unless you’re very confident! Glide polyester thread has a great selection of colors and works great for this project. You will use quite a bit of thread. 7. Sewing machine with standard presser foot not ¼” foot. We will not need machines the 1st week. 8. Cutting Tools – Rotary cutter at least 45mm. Rulers- Many rulers will work to cut the squares but here are several recommendations to make it easier and more accurate –#1 choice- Stripology XL ruler (I will demo in class) #2 -8 ½” x 24 ½” Creative Grid ruler, #3- 8 ½” square Creative Grid ruler. Rotary cutting mat at least 18” x 24”. Please bring yours if possible since I don’t have enough for everyone to use. 9. Notions – seam ripper, Rag Quilt scissors recommended (I will talk about what works best week 1), Walking foot (recommended ), Sewing machine needles 90/14 or 80/12 universal or Microtex (sharps) Chain piecing cutter (optional), Geasy organizing stickers and Wonder Clips (optional) DON’T FORGET – You receive a 10% discount from Quilter’s Cupboard on all supplies for class! |
